Business Travelers Rank Hawaiian #1 for First Class Meals
In another testament to the quality of Hawaiian Airlines’ in-flight service, Condé Nast Traveler’s Business Travel Awards for 2005 ranked Hawaii’s biggest and longest-serving carrier as having the best meals in premium class nationwide.
Hawaiian’s menus for first and coach class service are designed by Chef Beverly Gannon, a co-founder of the internationally recognized Hawaii Regional Cuisine and award-winning restaurateur of the Haliimaile General Store and Joe’s Bar & Grill on Maui.
“Our goal is to create in-flight meals that make travelers feel like they’re dining in a restaurant and not on an airplane,” said Gannon. “It takes a lot of effort on everyone’s part to provide such a high quality of meal service, but this award shows the hard work is paying off.”
This marks the second time in three years that Hawaiian’s first class meal service has earned Condé Nast Traveler’s highest ranking, also topping all premium class carriers in 2003.
Gannon has been designing Hawaiian’s in-flight menus since 1999. She updates the selections regularly and often incorporates a distinctively “island-style” flair that features Hawaii-grown products and flavors. In addition, Gannon meets with Hawaiian’s kitchen staff in its nine U.S. gateway cities on a regular basis to maintain the airline’s high standard of menu preparation and presentation.
