Cadogan picks Egypt over Mallorca
Cadogan Holidays has dropped Mallorca from its Winter Sun brochure and picked an Egyptian destination instead.
The operator has decided at the last minute to include Sharm El Sheikh for the 2005/2006 season, delaying the launch of its brochure by four weeks while it makes the change.
Behind the move was the decision by GB Airways to drop its Gatwick-Palma flight for the winter.
Cadogan managing director, Gary David said: “The minute we heard the news, we halted the print run of our Winter Sun brochure and got a team of contractors out to Sharm el Sheikh straight away to start putting together a first-class portfolio of four and five-star hotels.”
Mallorca has always performed considerably better during the summer season, nevertheless we had kept the product in our programme to remain consistent with the GB route. However, Sharm is undoubtedly a much more popular destination for winter and we are anticipating it to be a resounding success for Cadogan.
Cadogan also sells holidays to Cairo and Luxor in Egypt.
Other Winter Sun destinations are: Cyprus, Malta, Gozo, Morocco, Tunisia, Gibraltar, Southern Spain, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Portugal, and Madeira.
