Calls to allow liquids through security launch
With the ban on electronic devices falling by the wayside, can the ban on liquids be far behind?
Calling the current policy "probably one of the least effective security screenings being employed by the TSA at our nation’s airports," the Association for Airline Passenger Rights on Monday formally asked the TSA to end the "security theater" and let us carry our water bottles through security.
"FBI tests have demonstrated terrorists could not bring down a plane with small amounts of liquids, and for years leading security consultants have questioned the effectiveness of the liquid ban, so it is time to end it," AAPR said.
It also noted that technologies to test liquids already are being deployed in the European Union.
London’s Heathrow Airport has begun installing equipment to test liquids carried by passengers. beginning in January.
