Canada LCC NewLeaf Travel rebrands to Flair Airlines
Canadian low cost carrier NewLeaf Travel is turning over a new leaf – with a new brand name.
The startup marked its first year of operation by changing to Flair Airlines.
Flair Airlines is the company which actually operates flights and crew.
Flair announced the acquisition of NewLeaf Travel’s assets last month.
"We are starting a new chapter in the airline industry. Today we celebrate a significant milestone of successfully reaching our one year mark, and we are excited to now move forward with a new brand that better reflects who we are as one unified company," stated Chris Lapointe vice president, commercial operations, Flair Airlines.
Confusion over the two companies’ relationship caused an initial hiccup as Canadian authorities forced a delay in its launch due to an ‘ambiguity’ over which business should be in possession of the air operator’s permit.
While Kelowna-based Flair Airlines was in charge of all flight operations, NewLeaf Travel was the ticket reseller only.
Flair says it has flown 320,000 passengers since launching and has plans to expand further.
"We are focused on growing not only our destination list but are also widening our view of the travel industry as a whole. We look forward to sharing more information regarding these offerings in the coming weeks," Lapointe added.
