Cancun topping award lists
The United States Tour Operators Association recognized Cancun as the third most popular quick getaway, following London and Las Vegas, which were first and second. But that’s hardly the only award going to the Mexican resort these days.
Frommer’s named Cancun a top beach destination, while 10Best selected it as a top pick for both all-inclusive properties and nightlife. Cancun was also ranked third in best location to rent a timeshare, according to RedWeek.Com.
Agent@Home magazine has placed Cancun in its top ranking of international destinations for the at-home travel agent market.
And earlier this year Cancun was ranked as a top destination by Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates, Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers Choice Awards, Travelocity and About.com.
In addition, The American Express Travel Report, which predicts upcoming travel trends, has already placed Cancun as fifth in international destinations for the upcoming travel season.
Mexico’s most popular destination, Cancun is situated on the northeastern tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The destination is known for its 16-mile stretch of white sandy beaches, world-class hotels, recreational features, and proximity to historic Mayan archeological sites.
