Canyon Ranch to serve up healthy eats on Singapore Airlines’ Newark service
Singapore Airlines has tapped spa and wellness brand Canyon Ranch to ensure passengers stay fit and healthy during the world’s longest flight.
SIA starts the 19-hour Singapore-Newark service on October 11 which becomes the world’s longest nonstop flight.
SIA and Canyon Ranch said a host of amenities are planned which will focus on healthy cuisine, rest and relaxation.
"Food needs to be ‘clean’ and fresh, so nothing that is processed; no sweeteners or additives and no preservatives either. We opt instead for whole grains and proteins – sustainably caught. Our food is hormones and antibiotics free," said Canyon Ranch CEO Susan E. Docherty.
"What we offer is delicious and visually exciting food that leave people feeling nourished and restored."
Passengers will have three meals, as well as snacks during the flight.
There will also be some flexibility as to when passengers wish to eat.
The route will be flown by SIA’s new Airbus 350-900 ultra-long range aircraft, with Premium Economy and Business Class seats.
To encourage all passengers to stretch their limbs, exercise videos will be added to the in-flight entertainment system and via the SIA app.
Singapore Air takes delivery of the first A350-900ULR next month.
The airline is also launching nonstop services to Los Angeles in November.
