An interactive ‘fan page’ on social media site Facebook has been created by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority
A special trade promotion in the first two weeks will offer travel agents visiting the site the chance to enter a prize draw to win a St. Kitts hamper by signing up as a fan.
Entitled, “My St Kitts”, the fan page showcases the Caribbean island as an emerging upmarket tourist destination.
It utilises Facebook features including images and video clips, event invitations, blog feeds, discussion boards, details of island attractions, recipes to try, and a link to the St. Kitts Tourism website. www. stkittstourism.kn.
Facebook users have the ability to add “My St. Kitts” to their favourite fan pages and access these features and information free of charge.
Users will be invited to take part in a special interactive feature allowing them to post their own photographs and holiday snaps, offer reviews and travel tips and enter discussion panels.
Video footage will also engage and allow fans of “My St. Kitts” to directly experience the island.
St. Kitts Tourism Authority CEO Rosecita Jeffers said “St. Kitts selected Facebook to target prospective visitors because of the more than 150 million active users (14.9 million in UK alone) and the St. Kitts Facebook fan page hopes to attract the attention of the discerning and technology savvy audience engaged in this form of social media.
“Our fan page promotes St. Kitts as the next special upmarket destination in an extremely innovative, yet cost-effective manner and we especially look forward to having the travel industry join us in this exciting venture.”
