Caribbean Tourism launches UK portal for agents
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) is launching the UK portal of its website www.caribbean.co.uk on 27 January 2002, to help UK travel agents plan itineraries to any of the 34 destinations of the Caribbean region.
A feature of the website, that has been developed by the UK based company ‘DOT’, is that agents will be able to click through directly to the page of the activity required on the website(s) of the individual tourist board(s) where applicable.
The new site includes the new branding for the UK market that was developed after extensive market research last year and unveiled at World Travel Market 2001. The website offers a number of additional features, which include an interactive map, allowing agents visiting the site to click on a country of interest and print off information on that country for the customer.
Other features include currency information, weather forecasts and a useful section on the most ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ about the Caribbean, such as when to go and how to get there, which will greatly assist agents who are unfamiliar with the Caribbean.
Agents who are registered on the Caribbean Travel Consultants Training programme (CTCT) and have already achieved silver or gold status will be listed in a directory, allowing consumers accessing the site to located their nearest Caribbean specialist.
Later this year, the CTO will introduce a section that will allow tour operators to post up late availability and special deals.
