.The Carnival Freedom was officially named on March 4 in Venice by its godmother, supermodel Kathy Ireland. The 110,000-ton, 2,794-passenger megaship, which was delivered to Carnival Cruise Lines on February 28 by Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri, is the 22nd vessel in the Carnival fleet.

The Freedom departed February 5 on its maiden voyage, a nine-day Mediterranean cruise. The ship will offer 12-day cruises in the Mediterranean and Greek isles through October and will begin a Caribbean program from Miami on November 17.

The Conquest-class ship, the newest addition to the “Fun Ship” fleet, is one of the largest ships to ever cruise Europe. Carnival Freedom offers a wide range of signature “Fun Ship” amenities including: 22 lounges and bars, a 13,300-square-foot spa, a jogging track, Internet café, and four swimming pools – one with a 214-foot-long water slide.

Carnival Freedom dining includes exclusive selections created by world-renowned French master chef, Georges Blanc.

The Freedom provides a decade-by-decade journey through the centuries. Each public room on the Carnival Freedom is a celebration of a specific period in time.

Golfers sailing aboard Carnival Freedom during its inaugural season in Europe will have the opportunity to play some of the top courses in Italy, France, Spain and Turkey.
