Carnival passenger dies after fall
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the death of a passenger after a fall from a ninth deck balcony on the Carnival Horizon.
The man’s lifeless body was found on the fifth deck.
The accident took place as Carnival Horizon was returning to PortMiami after calls at Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Mexico.
The identity of the passenger has not been released or whether authorities have determined a cause for the fall.
Law enforcement is still investigating.
Carnival said the male passenger was pronounced dead before a trauma helicopter arrived to airlift him to hospital.
"Our CareTeam continues to provide support to the guest’s family and we cooperated with the standard law enforcement investigation when the ship arrived to PortMiami," the cruise line said.
