Carnival Rings the Bell for Cunard

Carnival Australia CEO Ann Sherry joined Carnival Corporation & plc CEO Micky Arison and other company executives and guests at the New York Stock Exchange this week to celebrate the making of maritime history with the New York rendezvous of Cunard’s three magnificent Queens – Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and QE2.

In honour of the occasion, Mr Arison rang the Exchange’s Closing Bell at the end of trading on January 15.

The New York rendezvous of Cunard’s Queens on January 13 was celebrated with fireworks and viewed by thousands of spectators.

The event was the only time the three Queens will ever meet, with the legendary QE2 due to leave the Cunard fleet in November 2008 to become a luxury floating hotel in Dubai.

The historic occasion – which comes one week into Queen Victoria’s first world voyage and QE2’s final world voyage – sets the scene for another meeting of those two liners in Sydney on February 24.

Carnival Australia’s parent company, Carnival Corporation and plc operates Cunard Line and is dually listed on the New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange.
