Carry on building: Bali hotel defies community
Denpasar Community enforcement officers have attempted to close two Bali hotels allegedly lacking mandatory building permits.
Bali Update (www.balidiscovery.com) named the two businesses as Harrad’s Hotel in Sanur and The Denpasar Junction in downtown Denpasar.
A community enforcement officer sealed the Harrad’s Hotel on November 8, due to “the inability of the well-advanced and under-construction hotel to present a building permitâ€.
Locals said the Harrad’s Hotel only had an “in principal agreement” – the initial green light from local tourism officials permitting the investors to explore the viability and plan a proposed investment project.
When local enforcement officials came to seal the hotel’s construction site, the project’s owner-representative, Rudi Hartono, was unable to present copies of the missing permits, local media reported.
In a follow-up article in DenPost last Friday, it was reported that the owners of Harrad’s Hotel were still working on the project.
