CarTrawler to offer rental bookings to airlines

Sunday, 27 Jul, 2007 0

Car rental distribution system CarTrawler is to be integrated into SITA Horizon – the airline reservation and management system.

The move will enable SITA to offer the car rental booking technology to its airline customers giving them the opportunity to earn additional revenue by offering car-hire on their websites.

SITA’s Horizon technology is used by more than 100 airlines across the world flying more than 110 million passengers every year.

The CarTrawler system enables airlines and other travel suppliers to offer car rental in 134 countries at more than 12,000 car rental locations across the world. Figures from the company show that more than 4% of airline passengers will rent a car through an airline website if the service is provided.

According to CarTrawler, car-hire is already the second most purchased ancillary item. The company predicts that more than 50% of car-hire will be sold through airline websites within five years.
