Cathay Pacific inaugurates Boston-Hong Kong service
Cathay Pacific Airways has inaugurated its new route linking Boston with its Hong Kong hub, following a ribbon cutting ceremony and lion dance celebration at Boston Logan Airport.
The new three times a week service marks Cathay Pacific’s sixth gateway in the US, and eighth overall in North America.
"The importance of the only nonstop Boston – Hong Kong service goes beyond just linking Boston with this key Asian business and tourism World City," said Cathay Pacific Senior Vice President, Americas, Tom Owen.
"We are also opening up the greater New England region to connect with numerous Asian cities, including over 23 destinations in Mainland China, as well as key economic and tourism hubs throughout Southeast Asia."
Owen says there is strong demand for a direct service from New England to Hong Kong with more than 53,000 passengers flying to Hong Kong in 2013 who began their journey in Boston.
The route will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, Cathay said.
The carrier also flies to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Newark, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
