Cayman Airways launching flights to Denver

Thursday, 28 Aug, 2018 0

Mile high city travelers will be able to jet off direct to the Cayman sunshine from next year.

Cayman Airways is launching new seasonal nonstop flights between Denver and Grand Cayman from March 2, 2019.

It becomes the only Caribbean-based airline to operate out of Denver

The route kicks off with introductory fares at $396 plus taxes.

"Each new airline or a nonstop destination provides our residents and visitors more options to explore the world, while also creating new tourism and businesses opportunities here in Denver," said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock.

"We thank Cayman Airways for investing in our community, and we’re pleased to welcome them as the first Caribbean-based airline to serve Denver," Hancock added.

It will be a boon to the Cayman’s scuba diving industry, according to minister of tourism Moses Kirkconnell.

"Denver is well known as a community of avid divers who will be thrilled by having the convenience and opportunity to dive in Cayman more often. We are especially pleased that the arrival of CAL’s first Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft this November will help to support dive tourism," he said.

Officials at Denver International Airport said the city is the second largest in the US without a nonstop air link with a Caribbean island.

The Denver flight will be Cayman Airways’ longest ever scheduled nonstop flight.
