CDC affirms St Kitts as low risk destination

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has deemed St Kitts & Nevis a low risk destination.

It amended the St. Kitts & Nevis Covid-19 Risk Assessment Level to ‘No Travel Health Notice: Covid-19 Risk is Very Low.’

That puts it as one of only 10 Caribbean destinations with the very low risk designation.

"The recent assessment is a testament to the success of our ‘All of Society Approach’ to combating the threat of Covid-19," said Lindsay Grant, Minister of Tourism & Transport.

"Citizens and residents have adhered to the health and safety protocols established by medical experts resulting in one of the lowest rates of infection in the Caribbean."

So far it has reported 17 cases, with a 100% recovery rate, and there are currently no active cases.

Last month the CDC changed its travel advisory system to destination-specific notices for all countries, placing them into four different categories.

St Kitts’ ‘very low risk’ designation joins only 25 other countries around the world including nine in the Caribbean region.
