Celebrating a decade, ITB Asia looks to the future
ITB Asia convened in Singapore this week for its landmark 10th year.
While racking up a decade as Asia’s premier travel trade event is something to celebrate, the focus is on looking ahead.
At Singapore’s Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, the conference programme is all about ‘the Future of Travel.’
The three-day conference kicked off with presentations from IBM Asia Pacific and Google on the trends in Artificial Intelligence, while Ctrip CEO Jane Sun gave an opening keynote speech detailing Ctrip’s global strategy, adding that ‘advanced technology has always been one of Ctrip’s core advantages.’
More than 11,000 delegates are expected this year.
We have 940 exhibitors in attendance and 951 buyers from the MICE, Corporate and Leisure sector, putting Singapore at the centre of all this activity," said Katrina Leung, executive director of Messe Berlin (Singapore), the organiser of ITB Asia.
Firsts for this year include MICE & Corporate Hub, with a MICE pavilion and a corporate day, and an innovation travel tech track hosted by Israeli startup InnoVel.
This serves as a platform to connect travel companies with innovative startups.
It aims to meet challenges in address challenges in issues such as revenue management, customer engagement and online marketing.
