Celebrity reveals name of sixth Edge-class ship
As it took delivery of new ship Xcel, Celebrity Cruises has revealed the name of its upcoming new vessel which has just commenced construction.
Xcel’s sister ship will be named Xcite, and just had its steel cutting ceremony, marking the official start of construction.
Excite will be the sixth Edge-class ship and is expected to launch in 2028.
Executives of Celebrity and parent Royal Caribbean Group gathered at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique for Excel’s handover ceremony.
“With Celebrity Xcel now joining the fleet and Celebrity Xcite on the horizon, we’re continuing to set new standards for innovation alongside our trusted partners at Chantiers de l’Atlantique,’ said Hason Liberty, CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.
Celebrity Xcel will launch next month and spend its inaugural season at Port Everglades on week-long sailings in the Caribbean and Bahamas.
