Celebrity River Cruises set to double fleet size
Its inaugural cruise season is still more than a year away but Celebrity River Cruises is forging ahead thanks to what it says is big customer demand ahead of its launch.
It plans to double its fleet size by adding 10 more river ships.
“Guest demand for Celebrity River Cruises has exceeded our expectations, and expanding the fleet allows us to bring this highly anticipated experience to even more travelers,” said Jason Liberty, chairman and CEO of owner, Royal Caribbean Group
“With Celebrity’s expansion into river, we’re strengthening our connected vacation ecosystem, offering more choice, more access.”
Celebrity launches in 2027 on Europe’s rivers with two ships – Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker.
A further three ships join the fleet in 2028 – Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Boundless.
By 2028, the line will offer 160 sailings on the Rhine and Danube Rivers, with 24 new calls compared to 2027.
The 2028 season is now open for bookings.
“To meet this extraordinary demand, we’re thrilled to open 2028 sailings featuring 80% more European destinations,” said Celebrity president Laura Hodges Bethge.
Celebrity quickly sold out its 2027 river cruise season.
