Cendant to buy UK consolidator
Cendant Corporation has agreed a deal to buy the UK longhaul airfare and ground product consolidator, Travel 2 and Travel 4.
Travel 2 and Travel 4 are the leading UK longhaul consolidators that deal exclusively with the trade, carrying 220,000 clients per year and genertaing revenues of £170 million. It specialises in customised long haul travel to Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific, the Far East, Southern Africa, the Americas and Round-the-World, selling through agents.
Managing director of international markets for Cendant’s Travel Distribution Services division, Gordon Wilson told TravelMole: “The customised packages that Travel 2 and Travel 4 put together are the major growth areas of the travel industry today.
“We are going to make it easier for agents to book travel through Travel 2 and Travel 4 by using cendant technology, including enabling dynamic packaging. It should cut the number of calls going through the call centre and enable Travel 2 and Travel 4 consultants to deal with less menial stuff, and do more value-add work.”
Travel 2 and Travel 4 will join Cendant’s Travel Distribution Services division, which is also home to Galileo, but the two companies will remain separate. Travel 2 and Travel 4 will continue to be run by the current management team, which is led by co-founders Stuart Harvey and Graham Moss.
Stuart Harvey told TravelMole: “This acquisition will enable Travel 2 to enhance its business to trade website.” The company is head-quartered in London, with call centres in London, Glasgow and Manchester.
