Challenge Lanka charity road trip set for September
Adventure charity challenge operator Large Minority Travel has announced dates for 7th edition of the Lanka Challenge in September 2015.
Taking place from September 4-14, 2015 the Lanka Challenge will see 20 teams of 2-3 riders embarking on a 1,200-km road across Sri Lanka with the express aim of raising money for local charities and environmental organizations.
The 2015 route will take riders along challenging roads in remote areas of the country passing historic sites and some of Sri Lanka’s most fascinating natural scenery.
Teams will be set checkpoints to reach along with daily challenges to complete during the route
"Our trips are challenges. They’ll challenge you mentally and physically, but there’ll be enough help and support along the way to get you over the line," says Large Minority co-founder Julian Carnall.
"Think The Amazing Race on a tuk tuk", Carnall added.
The event has the support of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Economic Development and Sri Lankan Airlines as the main sponsor.
In addition Connaissance de Ceylan has been appointed as the official ground handler and local event partner for the Lanka Challenge 2015.
The Lanka Challenge team supports local partners the Red Cross Society of Sri Lanka and Land Owners Restore Rainforest In Sri Lanka (LORRIS) and 10% of each team’s entry fee will fund different charitable projects.
"Our challenges are designed to benefit the countries we visit. We make sure our trips give more to the locals than they take and that you can get involved in our projects first-hand," said Large Minority’s Juan Paredes who founded the Lanka Challenge.
