Channel chaos following tunnel fire
People planning to travel by train to the Continent this weekend face massive disruption following a fire in the Channel Tunnel.
No Eurostar or Eurotunnel services are operating today and it is not known how long services will be suspended for.
The blaze occurred yesterday afternoon on a freight train. Thirty two people were rescued, including 14 with minor injuries.
A statement from passenger service Eurostar confirmed that it did not expect to run any services through the Channel Tunnel today.
Passengers booked to travel today can exchange their tickets for travel at a later date or get a refund.
Those booked to travel between St Pancras and either Paris or Brussels this weekend were advised to check the eurostar.com website for further updates.
Meanwhile, traffic was blocking the port of Dover as lorries due to travel on Eurotunnel between Folkstone and Calais sought to take ferries instead.
