Charity calls on 18-30s to care for destinations

The Travel Foundation has teamed up with Club 18-30 to try and encourage young holidaymakers to respect their destinations.

A dedicated Insider Guide has been produced by the industry charity encouraging them to make a “positive difference” when they travel.

Advice includes visiting local bars (but being careful of local measures), learning some of the language, buying local crafts and produce, advice on drugs and safe sex, turning off heating and air conditioning if not needed, and avoiding products made from endangered plants or wild animals.

The guide is available to download from both The Travel Foundation’s website and the Club 18-30 site.

Travel Foundation chief executive Sue Hurdle said: “Our leaflet highlights some very simple ways in which holidaymakers can have a great holiday whilst caring for their favourite destinations. With this one aimed specifically at the younger holidaymaker we’re hoping that they, too, will make a difference when they travel. ”

Club 18-30 director Paul Little said: “The 18 to 30s is a popular market and this new guide will target them in a clever way. As much as anyone we want to see people enjoy their holidays, but also to have a respect for the country they visit.”
