Charles Kennedy fails to make ITT Conference
Former Liberal Democrats leader, the Rt Hon Charles Kennedy MP, failed to make it to the ITT Conference in Gran Canaria where he was due to be a speaker.
Kennedy was due to fly out on the Thursday night, ready to speak at 12.30 on Friday, but missed his flight.
When the conference organisers re-booked him on a flight for the Friday morning, he went to London Heathrow instead of Gatwick and therefore missed a second flight.
Instead, conference moderator Tim Hames, assistant editor of The Times, had to come up with a last-minute speech to wrap up the conference.
Hames joked that missing a flight would now become known, in the industry, as “doing a Kennedy”!
