CheapAir offers monthly payment for travel purchases

Saturday, 30 Aug, 2016 0
CheapAir.com has launched a monthly payments option for flight and accommodations.

It is the first major OTA to offer credit with a choice of 3, 6 or 12 monthly payments for transactions valued at more than $100.

On the checkout page users click the ‘Monthly Payments’ option and are then redirected to credit screening.

After providing a full name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, and the last four digits of a social security number, qualifying customers get approved in real time.

The credit services are provided and managed by financial services company Affirm.

"Credit card issuers, in many respects, have not kept up with the times and there are an increasing number of alternatives now available.  We want to give everyone the freedom to travel, regardless of whether or not they choose to use credit cards," said CheapAir CEO Jeff Klee.

CheapAir was also the first OTA in the US to launch a Bitcoin cryptocurrency payment option in 2013
