Checking in is a breeze, literally

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has introduced a new way for hotels to “go green”  —  front desk computers powered by the wind.

The chain says its hotels across North America will soon have such a system after purchasing Ego-Logo certified wine power for 249 check-in computers.

The purchase will lead to a greenhouse gas reduction of almost 100 tons, according to the chain.

”Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is one of a growing number of progressive companies purchasing wind power,” said Tina Barzo, development associate of the Pembina Institute, an environmental policy research and education institute.

“The purchase of wind power is a new component of our company’s Green Partnership Program,” said Michelle White, Fairmont’s manager of environmental affairs.
