Chef brandishing knife shot dead at Pattaya hotel
A chef armed with a knife was shot dead by police outside a Thai hotel after a ruckus.
Officers were called after chef Prajakchai Siriwech, 35, entered the New Seaview Resort Hotel in North Pattaya brandishing the knife.
He was confronted by the officers inside the hotel but evaded capture and was later cornered in the hotel’s car park.
After initially complying with orders to lay down the knife Prajakchai picked it up again and went for one of the officers.
A scuffle ensued and he was fatally shot in the head.
It is still unclear whether the chef worked at the hotel and what caused the incident.
Witness statements were taken and a police investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
