Child rescued after falling off cruise pier
A mother and her child were rescued after the latter fell into the water between the Carnival Sunrise cruise ship and the pier at Carnival’s private destination Celebration Key.
The mother jumped in to save her child while crew members quickly sprang into action with flotation devices and a ladder to help them back onto the pier.
The incident happened before Christmas and has only come to light after another cruise passenger filmed the incident and posted it online.
The Tiktoker was a guest on the adjacent ship Carnival Conquest.
The cruise line responded after the video was posted.
“A four‑year‑old girl fell into the water. Her mother immediately jumped in after her. Our ship and security team quickly brought them both to safety, and our medical team evaluated them. Both are doing well,” the cruise line said.
