Children to be banned from Virgin Voyages’ first cruise ship
Virgin Voyages’ first cruise ship, to be launched in 2020, will be adults-only, it was revealed at a keel-laying ceremony yesterday.
The 2,860-passenger ship will be based in Miami and sail to the Caribbean. It has yet to be named.
Tom McAlpin, president and CEO of the cruise line launched by Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson said 86% of the cabins will have balconies (to be called terraces) and 93% will have ocean views.
The ship has a sleek, grey and silver yacht-like design and will boast a red mermaid logo.
Speaking at the ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyward in Italy, McAlpin said it would have a more intimate feel, inspired by super yachts.
It will be the first of three, with the others expected to be delivered by 2022.
