China blacklists sub-standard hotels
BEIJING – The China National Tourism Administration has for the first time published a blacklist of domestic hotels.
The list includes up to 800 hotels across China and most of these hotels have had their star grade qualifications revoked.
China Hospitality News says that according to local media, 78 Guangdong Hotels have been included on the list, including 10 from Guangzhou, 29 from Shenzhen, and four from Zhuhai.
Shenzhen Bay Hotel and Guangzhou New Century Hotel are among the four-star hotels on the blacklist.
CNTA previously allowed hotels to retain their star-grade qualifications for the life of the hotels. However in 2004, CNTA changed this policy because of diminishing quality issues at some hotels.
