China Southern Airlines flew 150 million passengers in 2019
China’s largest passenger carrier flew past the 150 million passenger milestone in 2019.
China Southern Airlines said it handled about 150 million passenger trips last year as China’s aviation industry posted steady growth again.
The carrier now has a fleet of more than 860 aircraft and had previously set a target of reaching 1,000 planes in 2020.
Overall, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said there were more than 660 million passenger trips taken in 2019, which is a 7.9% increase on 2018.
It expects to retain that level in 2020 with a target of 7.6% growth.
China is now the world’s second-largest civil aviation market and the International Air Transport Association expects it to become number one during in the next few years
