Chinese online travel giant Ctrip hacked
China’s biggest online travel company Ctrip.com International Ltd says it suffered a hacking attack Thursday, causing outages to its website and mobile app, but that all-important customer data remains secure.
The Shanghai-based company is still investigating the source of the attack and is attempting to restore full service.
‘Unidentified sources’ accessed some of its servers, Ctrip said in a statement posted on its official Weibo account, but sensitive customer data was not breached.
US-based Priceline Group Inc. this week agreed to increase its stake in Ctrip with an additional $250 million through convertible bonds following an initial $500 million investment last year.
