Chinese tour company launching Belgium charter flights
One of China’s biggest tour companies, Zhongxin Travel Agency has unveiled details of its latest charter flight travel project – direct flights to Liege in Belgium.
Called the ‘Ten Thousand Tourists Charter Flight for Europe,’ the service features three weekly flights from three different Chinese cities to Belgium beginning on April 20.
Departures are from Xi’an on Mondays, Shenyang on Wednesdays and Tianjin on Saturdays weekly until October 2015.
Seats for the first departure from Xian have already sold out, according to Wang Zhenyue, of the Zhongxin Travel Agency, who expects the flights to drive a new wave of interest in cultural tourism in Europe aside from the major capitals such as London, Paris and Rome.
“The arrival of these Chinese charter flights is important both for Liege Airport, and for the Liege region,” said Steven Verhasselt, head of business development at Liege Airport.
Verhasselt says the region’s high quality gastronomy and shopping will prove to be a big draw for the China market along with easy links to neighbouring Germany, the Netherlands, France and Luxembourg, which are accessible with a Schengen visa.
