Choice in £35m hotel investment plan

Choice Hotels Europe is to invest £35 million in a refurbishment and development scheme.

The investment is across the 350 hotels in four brands it operates in 14 countries across Europe – Comfort, Quality, Sleep Inn and Clarion.

The project includes upgrading bedrooms and bathrooms, adding air conditioning to more rooms, remodelling public areas, upgrading meetings facilities plus leisure and fitness areas.

The company said “significant investment” was being committed to developing and opening new Sleep Inn properties. The company aims for 60 of the ‘premium limited service’ properties within five years with openings in Shrewsbury and Birmingham to come this year.

CEO David Cook said: “All of our development plans are based on sound, customer focused research and this is enabling is to drive our reputation.

“With new funds to support our ambitious ideas I think we can go along way to keeping our customers and staff really happy.”
