Its on-time performance rate was 85.08%, which is up nearly two points from the previous month.

SAS was closely behind Iberia Express in second place with an OTP of 82.45.

Air Europa, Finnair and Norwegian also made the top five.

Again, no UK airline featured in the top 10 for most punctual European carriers.

Globally, Aeromexico retained top spot in September with an impressive OTP of 91.13%, followed by Saudia, with an 89.40% punctuality score

Avianca was third with 88.74%.

Delta and Qatar Airways took fourth and fifth spot.

Overall, flight cancellations were down globally by 11% in September, with 47,324 cancelled, compared to 52,931 in August.

Cirium defines an on-time flight as one that arrives at its destination airport within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time
