Civitatis and Despegar global strategic partnership for tours and activities

Civitatis and Despegar have announced a new global strategic alliance that will bring Civitatis’ extensive catalog of tours and activities to millions of travelers across Latin America.

Under the agreement, Despegar will integrate Civitatis’ portfolio into its platform, giving the online travel company’s more than 30 million customers access to a wide range of guided tours, excursions and experiences available in destinations worldwide.

Civitatis is already an important platform for guided tours, excursions and activities in Spanish and Portuguese. It offers curated experiences in more than 4,200 destinations worldwide and connects more than 1.2 million travelers every month with local experiences.

The partnership combines Despegar’s strong footprint in Latin America with Civitatis’ expertise in Spanish- and Portuguese-language activities. Operating for more than 26 years, Despegar serves over 30 million customers and operates in 19 countries.

Global offer focusing on Latin America

This agreement brings together two leading companies committed to innovation and traveler satisfaction,” said Andrés Spitzer, CEO of Civitatis. “Latin America is a strategic market for us, and partnering with a major player such as Despegar is essential to our continued growth. Our goal is to help Despegar travelers enhance their trips with carefully selected, high-quality experiences available in their native language.

Iván Lovisolo, VP Global Partners at Despegar, said today’s travelers are increasingly seeking authentic experiences and ways to make the most of every stage of their journeys.

Through this alliance with Civitatis, we are strengthening our value proposition and taking another step toward our ambition of supporting travelers throughout every stage of their journey with an increasingly comprehensive and personalized offering,” Lovisolo said.

The agreement reinforces Despegar’s strategy of providing a seamless travel experience through a single platform where customers can organize every aspect of their trips.

Brazil is expected to play a particularly important role in the partnership. Despegar’s strong presence in the Brazilian market, combined with Civitatis’ leadership in Portuguese-speaking markets, will expand the range of experiences available to millions of travelers and support further growth of the activities segment in one of Latin America’s largest tourism markets.

Following the integration, travelers will have access to one of the most comprehensive activity portfolios available internationally. Both companies said they will work closely on technology and commercial initiatives to deliver an increasingly seamless and connected customer experience throughout the travel journey.
