Climate change activist climbs on top of BA flight to Amsterdam
An Extinction Rebellion activist managed to get on top of an Amsterdam-bound British Airways’ plane at London City Airport, where protestors were attempting to disrupt services throughout the day.
Paralympic cyclist James Brown, who is partially sighted, filmed himself sitting on top of the fuselage.
He had managed to get into the airport after booking a seat on the flight.
Another protestor was removed from a flight after refusing to sit down for take-off.
Police arrested several people blocking the airport entrance as others glued themselves to the floor.
It is the fourth day of the latest Extinction Rebellion climate change protests, which are taking place across central London and other major cities worldwide.
However, London City Airport has managed to maintain operations throughout the day, with only some minor delays.
Flights have largely run on time or with slight delays in and out of London City Airport throughout.
Activists are attempting a three-day occupation of the terminal building in a protest against the airport’s planned £2 billion expansion, although a heavy police presence has prevented most protestors from entering the building.
Former Metropolitan Police detective John Curran was among those arrested, after he glued himself to the pavement outside the airport.
