Co-operative Travel reports online boom
The Co-operative Travel claims its new-look website helped triple online sales in 2009 over 2008 and expects further growth this year.
The website, re-launched at the beginning of 2009 as www.co-operativetravel.co.uk, is expected to generate a 38% jump in sales by the end of this year, based on current figures.
The agency said visits to the site are up by 22% and time spent on the site up by almost 30%.
Reflecting the package holiday market, searches for all-inclusive holidays have risen by 106% year on year, whilst searches for city breaks to New York have risen by 203%
Other destinations on the up include Turkey (up 13%) and Disney (up 38%).
Head of E-Commerce Neil Hardy said: “At a time when a lot of the travel industry has seen a decline in sales, it is great for this business to see a continuing rise in holiday bookings.
“This is very much a team effort. We are constantly looking at ways to improve the web proposition, and remain confident that sales will carry on increasing in the years ahead.”
