Coach operator adding extra winter capacity

Over-55s operator Grand UK Holidays is adding extra coachloads to its festive programme to meet demand.

It says sales are about 10% up year-on-year and its most popular UK festive holidays are already selling out.

Sales director Harold Burke said: “It’s great news to be looking at extra coaches in early June for tours that take place in November and December.

“The brochure came out in early May and our own Grand UK Hotels are starting to fill up already, due to demand for holidays such as our Turkey and Tinsel breaks.

“Mystery tours are selling particularly well as people are determined to have a festive winter holiday, despite the recession, and our prices enable them to do just that.”

Burke added: “Our festive programme has grown immensely over recent years and, thanks to the support of travel agents, we took away record numbers last Christmas.”
