Cockpit carry-on sees pilots, crew suspended
NEW DELHI – Air India has de-rostered pilots and cabin crew allegedly involved in a brawl in the cockpit.
The airline and police are investigating the incident.
The Times of India reported that crew members threw punches and hurled abuse at each other on the flight from Sharjah in the UAE to Delhi after a female attendant accused the pilots of harassing her.
The pilots accused a male flight purser of misconduct that seriously compromised flight safety
The fight spilled out into the galley of the plane as 106 shocked passengers looked on, the paper said.
There were unconfirmed reports that the cockpit of the Airbus A-320 was left unmanned at one point, and one of the pilots threatened to divert the plane to Pakistan.
No party denied that blows and abuses were exchanged. Sources said that the 24-year-old female cabin crew member and the co-pilot sustained bruises.
