Cold Cleveland wins title of best affordable getaway
Best affordable getaway city in America? Cleveland, if you believe readers of Travel+ Leisure.
“Our fine city also placed highly in the culture category, scoring well in the subcategories of classical music, theater and museums,” wrote the Cleveland Plain Dealer, which added:
“You can guess the areas it fared poorly in: weather, shopping and romantic escape.”
Here’s how other cities fared:
• Best for a wild weekend: 1. New Orleans; 2. Las Vegas; 3. Miami; 4. New York; 5. Austin, Texas.
• Best for a romantic escape: 1. Honolulu; 2. Charleston, S.C.; 3. San Francisco; 4. New Orleans; 5. Santa Fe, N.M.
• Best for a family vacation: 1. Orlando; 2. Washington, D.C.; 3. San Diego; 4. San Antonio, Texas; 5. Denver.
