Collapse of long-established escorted tours and cruise operator
Strandtown Travel, a Northern Ireland-based operator established in 1974 which traded under the name Acetours, has gone into liquidation.
The 46-year-old company offered escorted tours and cruises, mainly to Europe and the Middle East.
It was run by Ann and Alan Couser. A message on the company’s website said it had kept in touch with every passenger booked to travel this summer ‘on a twice weekly basis’. It had recently added a few short tours to try to stay afloat during the pandemic.
The CAA said flight-inclusive holidays and any Refund Credit Notes issued in lieu of refunds for cancelled holidays will be protected by the company’s ATOL.
The company was based in Donaghadee in County Down.
