Comic Relief peaks interest in Kilimanjaro

The Adventure Company has reported a significant rise in enquiries and bookings for its three Kilimanjaro treks following the celebrity Red Nose Climb for Comic Relief.

Between 10th and 19th March, The Adventure Company registered an average of 16 options per day regarding Kilimanjaro trips – around ten times more than it would regularly receive. Traffic to the Kilimanjaro pages of its website www.adventurecompany.co.uk also increased by 27%.

With a high proportion of Kilimanjaro enquiries resulting in trips being booked, The Adventure Company also reported a total increase of 24% in passenger bookings compared to the same period in 2008.

The Adventure Company made a pledge to donate £10 for any customers quoting ‘Red Nose’ when booking a Kilimanjaro trip by 15th March 2009 – an offer it actively promoted via its growing social media networks, blog communities and public relations activity.

‘Clearly the profile of the Kilimanjaro trek has increased on the back of the celebrity Comic Relief climb, promoting the appeal of this amazing challenge’ commented UK agency sales manager Vicky Gallear.

The Adventure Company offer three trekking routes up Kilimanjaro – the Marangu Route, the Rongai Route and the Machame Route. It also offers a 16-day Peaks of Tanzania trip, where the Machame Route up Kilimanjaro is combined with an ascent of extinct volcano Mount Meru.

Prices for Kilimanjaro trips start from £1,319 per person including flights.
