Competition to name new Virgin Blue trans Pacific carrier.
Speaking at ATE 2007 yesterday, Virgin Blue CEO Brett Godfrey [pictured right] announced a competition to choose a name for Virgin Blue’s trans Pacific operation, with Virgin Blue unable to use the Virgin brand name for operations into the USA.
Virgin Blue recently ordered six Boeing 777-300ER aircraft at a cost of A$2.2 billion, with options over a further six and it has also signed an leasing agreement for one further aircraft.
The new airline will use the Boeing 777-300ER’s on the non stop Sydney-Los Angeles route and they are also considering flying to other locations within the aircrafts capabilities in the USA
