Comtec eyes independent market
WTM 2004 Special: Comtec is setting its sights on the independent travel retail market after finding success with larger agencies.
The company is launching a complete ‘one stop shop’ desktop solution for smaller agents that comes as part of its internet package. It is called Travel Desk and was launched at World Travel Market.
Chief executive Simon Powell told TravelMole: “Comtec is competing in a market space that wasn’t traditionally its core market, which was larger groups. But because we have got a good market share we are looking to actively promote to the independent sector and smaller branches with just three or four staff.
“For the independent sector and smaller agents solutions must be easy to use and must deliver.”
Travel Desk comes free with Comtec’s £50 per month managed ADSL internet package. It includes features like email, calender and to do lists, and can be supplemented by other Comtec agency selling tools. This includes EasySell Web, the package holiday search and book system that costs £18 a month or EasySell Flights, which is launching at WTM (see separate story) for £15 per month.
It also gives access to products such as Amadeus Cruise.
“We are not going to try reinventing products that other people already do well – like Amadeus’ cruise offering – so we connect up with them.”
