Concern over Italy airport security
Security inspectors have managed to carry fake bombs through checkpoints at most of Italy’s main airports, according to a report by the BBC.
The corporation’s news website quotes the daily Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, which printed a report leaked by the Italian Transport Ministry.
The BBC states that inspectors carrying knives and explosives in their hand luggage passed through security checkpoints and metal detectors at Rome, Milan, Bergamo, Palermo and Catania airports.
At Rome’s Fiumicino airport, the inspectors reportedly took a fake bomb through domestic and international terminals, as well as through the staff entrance. The Inspectors also reported that there were inadequate searches and tests for explosives.
