An Italian man has reportedly picked up an “absolute bargain” by buying a Concorde nose-cone for £115,000 in an auction of the legendary jet’s body parts.

As reported by News From Abroad, a four-day auction of Concorde memorabilia is currently taking place via the internet, with items including lavatory cubicles, cutlery and ashtrays on offer.

The Independent newspaper reports that the nose-cone purchase was at a bargain price; in December another example fetched some £320,000. Two toilet cubicles were sold for £15,000 and £9,000 respectively while a set of cutlery sold for £350.

Mike Bannister, chief Concorde pilot, is quoted as saying: “Right from the time we announced Concorde was retiring, we have tried to make it a celebration of 27 years of successful service.”

Andrea Scopti, who bought the nose-cone, is reportedly planning to install the quarter-tonne lump of metal in his Milan home; anyone who fancies one for their house will be pleased to know that there are still two to be auctioned off before the sale finishes on Saturday.
