Whether it is one of our conference producers investigating a new topic area, a journalist chasing a breaking news story or an academic editor commissioning a ground-breaking journal article, our business is the generation of new, original information that gets to the heart of the most pressing issues facing our customers.

Conference Producers are at the forefront of the company and specialise in business research and project management. You will research and put together the intellectual content of conference programmes at the cutting edge of business strategy.

You will be responsible for structuring the conference agenda as a result of live research with senior managers from a cross section of companies, selecting and inviting high level speakers, copy writing, designing the conference brochure and ensuring profitability of entire projects – from the initial idea to the smooth running of the event.

Conference producers have a lot of budgetary control and you will be making financial decisions that will have significant bottom line impact. Throughout the production cycle you will work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure the best possible marketing campaign and with the Sponsorship Manager to put together an effective sponsorship strategy.

Responsiblities:

Research new conference ideas

Use telephone research, trade journals and internet as research tools to get the requisite information for the conference programme

Make good use of accurate results of telephone research

Identify suitable advisor(s) and develop relationships

Identify the target audience

Assess the angle the event should take

Uncover relevant publications and associations

Determine relevant speakers and organisations

Identify and secure suitable speakers

Keep in close touch with the market place, including reading journals, accessing the internet, telephone research and one-to-one meetings

Monitor the competition/build event database

Requirements:

Good degree with commercial experience

Excellent communication skills required

Strong organisational skills

Commercial awareness

Good negotiation skills

Self starter

Ability to juggle multiple events

Tenacity and required skills to meet deadlines dependent on input of others.
