Consumers vote for top travel companies
Consumers have voted Brtish Airways, P&O Cruises, TUI and Virgin Holidays as their favourite travel companies.
Meanwhile, Florida has emerged as the nation’s best destination.
The results came from a poll by Teletext which attracted 10,000 votes and were revealed last night at the annual British Travel Awards.
A total of 61 awards were handed out at the presentation ceremony in London, with Thomas Cook scooping the top awards as tour operator of the year and travel company of the year.
Amanda Wills of Virgin Holidays was chosen as personality of the year and her company picked up two other awards.
Carnival UK brands clinched all but one of the six cruise awards including Cunard as cruise line of the year and, oddly, Ocean Village as best mainstream and best niche cruise line. Complete Cruise Solution was also voted best trade training provider. Royal Caribbean received the cruise innovation of the year award.
The Amadeus innovation award went to Cosmos at the event hosted by Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine and run by industry newspaper TTG.
