Controversial Noah’s Ark theme park opening next year

The controversial Noah’s Ark inspired theme park in Kentucky is set for a summer opening next year.

The Ark Encounter has scheduled July 7, 2016 as the opening date.

"It’ll certainly be one of the biggest Christian attractions in the world", said Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis, the religious ministry building the attraction.

"While the Ark Encounter will be able to accommodate 16,000 guests per day, our consultant’s research has shown that we could possibly expect more than that during the first few weeks of opening, especially during the summer timeframe", Ham said.

Answers in Genesis also operate the nearby Creation Museum.

Answers in Genesis is currently pursuing legal action against lawmakers after Kentucky took away tax rebates worth several million dollars after concerns of ‘religious indoctrination’ of new recruits offered employment at the theme park.

"We have never hidden the fact that our objective is to spread the truth of God’s Word and its life-changing gospel message," Ham said.

The park will feature a full-sized wooden replica of the Ark, a restaurant, theater and petting zoo.

A second construction phase will include a depiction of the Tower of Babel, a journey through biblical history, and the Walled City.

Tickets will go on sale from January 2016, and will cost $40 for adults, $28 for children and $31 for seniors.
